Today’s Reflection
Gospel: John 3: 13-17

Today’s Gospel
No one has ever gone up to heaven except the one who came from heaven, the Son of Man.
As Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
Yes, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but may have eternal life. God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world; instead, through him the world is to be saved.
Today’s Reflection
The Psalmist exclaims, “Do not forget the works of the Lord!” We, his people, are always asked to remember the goodness of the Lord. In today’s feast, we celebrate the very symbol, the means through which we were saved by the goodness of God: the cross. This symbol of torture, humiliation, and execution has been transformed into becoming the means of salvation and the greatest symbol of love. This has become the greatest act of selflessness that any person could do, not just dying on the cross but giving himself to death through crucifixion, even if he has no sin or crime. He did it for the sake of the people he loves. Jesus died on the cross for us. This is the greatest message of the cross. And it is for this very reason that we exalt the cross, not as an instrument of death, but as a loud proclamation of God’s love. The call for every Christian disciple is to imitate the cross. And we imitate the cross through our genuine acts of love and sacrifices for each other. May we always proclaim the cross of Christ in our lives. May we have the heart and courage
to allow ourselves to be crucified for other people.
