The Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu (BMSN) sent delegation to the “International Meeting of Evangelii Gaudium: Reception and Perspectives,” which discussed the Pope’s Apostolic Exhortation six years from its publication.

Bishops, religious and lay people were gathered in Vatican from November 28-30, 2019.

Rev. Fr. Pacifico Nohara, OSA, BMSN Rector/Prior, together with Rev. Fr. Genesis Labana, OSA, BMSN Media Centre Director, attended the three-day international meeting which was participated by more than 1000 participants across the globe.

At the end of the meeting, Pope Francis received the delegates at Sala Regia in St. Peter’s Basilica and gave his message to them.

“We need a free and simple church, which does not think of looking good, of convenience and of entrances but outward looking,” Pope Francis said.

At the outset, Pope Francis stressed the ‘need to proclaim the Gospel arising spontaneously and become irrepressible.’

He further stated that it is when we encounter the Lord that we are flooded with that love of which He alone is capable.

The Basilica delegates are part of the Philippine delegation which was attended by the members of the Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages of the Philippines under the Episcopal Commission for Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
