On July 23, 2022, the 19 chapters of the Cofradia del Santo Niño de Cebu in Bohol, both in the Diocese of Tagbilaran and the Diocese of Talibon, gathered in a one-day activity called “PANAGTAPOK” to celebrate the gift of devotion to the Child Jesus, Señor Santo Niño. A holy mass and a cultural presentation of the different chapters highlighted the get-to-know activity.

Around 200 members, 12 representatives per chapter, were gathered at the Dao Gym – Dao District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

In a particular way to address the pastoral and spiritual needs of the Cofradia members, Most Rev. Abet Uy, DD, Bishop of Tagbilaran, appointed Rev. Fr. Agerio Paña as their Diocesan Spiritual Director.

Officers from the Mother Chapter – Basilica Minore del Santo Nino de Cebu, headed by their president, Mr. Teofilo Cabahug, were also present.

Of the 19 chapters, three are from Talibon Diocese, and sixteen are from Tagbilaran Diocese. Unprecedentedly, the number of chapters grew last May and June 2022 when fifteen new chapters were created during the Santo Niño pilgrimage on the island, spearheaded by the rector of the Basilica, Rev. Fr. Nelson G. Zerda, OSA.

More chapters will soon be established when the Santo Nino visits the Dioceses of Talibon and Tagbilaran for the 3rd round of pilgrimage in September 2022. (deusgents)
