BMSN collabs with PRO7 and Cebu City Gov: Collaboration for safety and security concerns for Fiesta Señor 2019

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu (BMSN) conducts its first collaborative meeting with the Police Regional Office VII (PRO7) and the Cebu City government regarding the upcoming Fiesta Señor activities.

According to Rev. Fr. Aladdin P. Luzon, OSA, the chairman of Cluster on Safety, Security, Peace and Order of BMSN, they are still in the stage of polishing everything.

Rev. Fr. Luzon, OSA stated that there are still two entry points at the BMSN during the Fiesta Señor 2019.

“The area near the Cebu City hall will be the point of entrance, point of exit is at the Osmeña Boulevard. The other entrance will be near the Island Souvenir. There is one direction to avoid counterflowing.” Rev. Fr. Luzon, OSA, stated.

The celebration of the Fiesta Señor is an annual religious and cultural activity to commemorate  the Holy Child, Señor Santo Niño de Cebu.

It is a prestigious event that includes different sectors and ministry of the Church especially the big involvement of the devotees.

Part of the initial plans during this religious activity is the improvement of the traffic flow at the Basilica wherein checking of bags will be done at the main entrance located in P. Burgos Street.

The activities are being laid down during the meeting to see whether or not there are conflicting activities.

A full-force assistance from the PRO7 headed by PRO-7 Director Debold Sinas will also be implemented.

These initial plans will be finalized on December 1, 2018.

“December one will be the finalization of everything that we have discussed including the entrance and exit.” Rev. Fr. Luzon, OSA, said.

Further details are to be announced in the Basilica as what to expect for next year’s celebration of the Fiesta Señor.

Fr. Luzon encourages the devotees to keep updated on the information and announcements regarding the celebration.

He also envisions that the collaborative meeting will strengthen and deepen the partnership of the Church and its people.

“The collaborative meeting strengthens the partnership of the Church, PNP and the city government for the Fiesta Señor.” Fr. Luzon said. /Analyn Conocono and Anamarie Nanol – USJ-R Communication Interns
