Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Plant Trees in San Fernando

On the early morning of September 23, 2017, around 40 members of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion of the Basilica went to Greenhills, San Fernando to plant trees. The Committee on Socio-PastoralApostolate and the officers of the organization spearheaded the tree planting activity. It was a collaborative work between the lay ministers and the Colegio del Sto. Niño extension campus.

The lay ministers planted a total of 150 seedlings of plant trees and fruit-bearing trees inside the 12 hectare school campus. The designated planting area was only in front of the constructed chapel, wherein it will soon become the chapel of the Ecce Homo.

Rev. Fr. Romeo Coronel, OSA, CSN-Greenhills campus administrator, and Rev. Fr. Genesis P. Labana, OSA, spiritual director of the EMHC, of the Basilica community were also present in the activity.
With the overwhelming outcome of the tree planting and the enthusiasm of the lay ministers, they plan to plant more trees in the area.

The tree planting activity is part of the thrust of the Basilica as a response to the call of our Holy Father Pope Francis to take care of our common home, the earth. It was also two months ago that the Cofradia de Lourdes conducted the same activity.
