Today’s Gospel

People were bringing children to Jesus that he might touch them,
but the disciples rebuked them.
When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them,
“Let the children come to me; do not prevent them,
for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Amen, I say to you,
whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child
will not enter it.”
Then he embraced the children and blessed them,
placing his hands on them.

Today’s Reflection

One of the characteristics of a child is humility. Humility has been manifested through the simple actions and obedience of a certain child. Today’s Gospel speaks about the kingdom of God which can be acquired by possessing child-like innocence. The way to perfection is not that easy. God never promise to show us a garden that has been filled with blooming roses, but He promise to stay with us until the end of time. The way might be uneasy but by acquiring great patience, humility and obedience to the will of God, this troubled path that we are walking could become an interesting journey with Him. We just need to calm Him like an innocent child, possessing great humility to accept His plans for us. It is in losing our own self that we gain the kingdom in heaven.
