Augustinian Vocation Promoters

PREAMBLE

WE, the members of the Augustinian Vocation Promoters of the Order of St. Augustine – Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu – Philippines, in the conformity with the Catholic Doctrines, invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit; recognizing the need of spiritual growth by inspiring men and women to the priestly, religious vocation and to the life of sanctity in order to become the living witness of the word of God and to give importance and value of vocation; do hereby promulgate this Constitution and by-laws.

ARTICLE I

TITLE, OFFICE, SEAL AND OBJECTIVE

SECTION 1. The association shall be known as the Augustinian Vocation Promoters with an acronym AVP and it shall be a religious organization.

SECTION 2. The association shall be under the Office of the local Director of Vocations of the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu Community. The office of the Local Director of Vocations shall serve as the center of the Association.

SECTION 3. The Seal of the Association shall be circular figure inscribing the symbol of Augustinian Spirituality with a full text- Augustinian Vocation Promoters – Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu, surrounding it.

SECTION 4. The Objectives of the Association shall be:

  • To foster sense of camaraderie and friendship among members.
  • To promote and attract priestly and religious vocations and the life of sanctity.
  • To defend the Catholic faith in words and in actions and to support the programs of the Catholic Church.
  • To support the applicants and seminarians for priestly and religious vocation in their formation through spiritual, moral and material assistance.
  • To promote sanctity among its members through active participation in devotional activities; regular confessions and communion and other religious and civic community activities.

ARTICLE  II

MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1. All applicants to the seminary, and those who have attended the search-in, and all seminarians will automatically be a member of the Association provided they manifest their intention by filing up the application form.

SECTION 2. Any Catholic faithful between 18-40 years old, single, who has completed the admission process facilitated by the Admission Committee (created by the Executive Committee) with the final concurrence of the Local Director of Vocations. Applicants who are married and those who are over 40 years old shall be considered as auxiliary members.

  • The applicant must have undergone the six months observation period with active participation in the activities of the Association

ARTICLE IV

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS

SECTION 1. Every member must encourage at least one applicant every month for the search-in for priestly and religious vocation.

SECTION 2. Every member shall shepherd the spiritual needs of fellow members and the society as well.

SECTION 3. Every member shall hold his personal responsibility of living a Christian life.

SECTION 4. It shall be the duty and responsibility of each member to have a regular confession and daily communion as much as possible.

SECTION 5. Every member shall support in every activity, which the association will undertake.

SECTION 6. It shall be the duty and responsibility of every member to foster the growth of the association.

SECTION 7. Every member is required to renew his or commitment annually during the Association’s anniversary celebration.

ARTICLE XII

ROLE OF THE LOCAL DIRECTOR OF VOCATIONS

The Association recognizes the role of the local Director of Vocations.

SECTION 1. He shall be the spiritual director and adviser of the Association.

SECTION 2. He shall be the final concurring office in the admission of members.

SECTION 3. He reserves the right to approve or disapprove financial transactions.
