Readings for today

Jesus wept over Jerusalem, considered as the dwelling place of God, for its failure to recognize his coming. It was the day when God visited his own city, and yet its inhabitants failed to honor them as they should. The same disappointment and sadness the Lord experienced for Jerusalem is something that occurs now and again. Even today people do not always recognize God’s presence. They turn a deaf ear to his message; they close their eyes to his presence in the poor and the needy; they refuse to put his teachings into practice. God continues to shed tears for the hardness of our hearts. The invitation remains the same (as one Psalm puts it): “Today if you hear the voice of the Lord, harden not your hearts.” Let’s not waste the chance of recognizing God’s presence in our life.
