Readings for today

        1. All of us have our own share of blindness. May be it is not the physical type of blindness, that prevents our physical eyes from seeing, but of a spiritual type, which prevents us from seeing God’s presence in our midst, in the events happening to us, and in the persons that we encounter. The blind man of Jericho, in our Gospel reading today, encourages us to do everything we can to overcome our blindness. In his case, he raised his voice to call Jesus’ attention, even when others were telling him to be silent. He shouted even louder. Perhaps we can ask ourselves: What initiatives do we take to overcome our blindness? Recognizing our real situation is just the starting point. We have to realize our need for God, and then turn to him and ask for his help.
