Sadducees Ask About the Resurrection

Today’s Reflection
Gospel:Lk 20:27-40 The Question About the Resurrection

Readings for today

How many of us still strongly believe in the resurrection of the dead? There is a fast spreading tendency now to reduce human existence to the present world and time. For some, death has the final word; everything ends with it; there’s no such thing as life after death. Many would not dare make such affirmations openly, but the concrete way they live reveals their true conviction. Thus, many people tend to live only for today; they spend their days eating and drinking and partying as if there is no tomorrow. It is very sad to see such behavior on the part of Christian believers, who are supposed to be men of faith in God and hope in the world to come. The Sadducees, indeed, are still very much alive, in this case. They, at least, openly denied the resurrection.
