Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Lk 19:45-48 “The Cleansing of the Temple”
November 23, 2018 | Friday
How open are we to other people’s comment and criticism? When Jesus criticized the merchants selling their goods within the Temple premises and drove them out, the chief priests and the scribes wanted to kill him. Indeed, even today many people easily resort to violence just to silence those who criticize the way they do things and question their judgment. Many would consider their critics are their nemesis, and getting rid of them seems to them as the only solution to their problem. How many, for example, have threatened the Church and unjustly criticized her every time she spoke against wrong principles and State laws? Many people would like to see her downfall because of this. They simply cannot take criticisms constructively. Sometimes we hate people who criticize us because they cause us inconvenience and embarrassment. When will we learn?
