Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Lk 2:22-35 “The Presentation in the Temple“
December 29, 2018 | Saturday
Coming from a religious Jewish family, Mary and Joseph presented their first born, the baby Jesus, to the Lord for purification in the temple of Jerusalem. As a family they adhered faithfully to the Mosaic Law and thus demonstrated their deep faith in God.
As Catholics, we also have Church laws to follow which help us to grow spiritually. Foremost of these laws are the participation in the Holy Mass on Sundays and holidays of obligation and the reception of the sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) once a year. These are means provided by the Church for the faithful to encounter Jesus in the sacraments. The following of the laws of the Church makes us close to the Church, which is the Body of Christ. How faithful have you been in encountering the Lord Jesus in the Eucharist and the Confession?
