Two pregnant women meet. Each one received a message from the angel that she would become pregnant with a son. Their meeting filled them with joy. The baby in Elizabeth’s womb leapt for joy, recognizing the baby Jesus in the womb of Mary. He was to be the true joy of humanity. It is the feeling that we experience when we encounter God and stand in His presence. It is a lasting experience which fills the emptiness of the human heart. It is a feeling of fullness and contentment both in good and bad times. It is more than happiness, for happiness depends on the moods and circumstances one is in. With joy, whatever moods and circumstances there may be, deep peace prevails within us. Joy is a profound experience in the inner heart of the person, where God dwells.
