Today’s Gospel

This is my commandment: Love one another as I have loved you! There is no greater love than this, to give one’s life for one’s friends; and you are my friends, if you do what I command you.

I shall not call you servants anymore, because servants do not know what their master is about. Instead, I have called you friends, since I have made known to you everything I learned from my Father.

You did not choose me; it was I who chose you and sent you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. And everything you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

This is my command, that you love one another.

Today’s Reflection:

We consider someone as a friend because of our personal knowledge of him/her. We also measure our friendships based on the degree of trust we place in them, especially when it comes to secrets. This is the reason why we only share secrets with our best friends and family. In our Gospel today, Jesus calls us his friends; and He shows His love to us by revealing Himself and by making Himself known to us. Not only that, He offered Himself to us. As His friends, let us also open our hearts to Him always in prayer. Let us also offer ourselves to Him by living holy lives and through serving others. /Vulnerasti, 2022
