Today’s Gospel

Jesus walked through towns and countryside, preaching and giving the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve followed him, and also some women, who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: Mary called Magdalene, who had been freed of seven demons; Joanna, wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward; Suzanna; and others, who provided for them out of their own funds.

Today’s Reflection:

The women in the life of Christ are seldom mentioned in the Gospels, except Mary His Mother. Nevertheless, their participation and the works they do for Christ, His disciples in the ministry should not be discounted. Though infrequently mentioned, we know that they were there to support the works of Christ in all its aspects in the best they can. There are even some who are of good standing in society and are believers of Christ.

Perhaps today, we could spare a thought on how we could help the mission and the ministry of Christ handed down to us as baptized faithful. May God continue to send people like the women in the Gospel who silently worked and augmented His ministry. /Vulnerasti, 2023.
