Gospel: Mt 11:28-30
December 7, 2022 | Wednesday
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart; and you will find rest. For my yoke is easy; and my burden is light.
Today’s Reflection:
The God of Christianity is not a God of legalism. He is a personal God who shows his meekness, compassion, intimacy, and humility to the heavily laden disciples. Following Him does not only guarantee the attainment of eternal rewards. More than that, following him leads us to enter into a more intimate relationship with Him, which can change our lives. The more we draw ourselves to Him, the more we possess Him, and the more we possess Him, the more we become like Him – meek, compassionate, intimate, and humble. Following Jesus may be difficult, but we are guaranteed of his personal promise that He will give us rest (v. 28). Jesus himself takes the initiative to lighten the load of our yoke, so that we will be freed from the oppression brought about by our own sinfulness. /Vulnerasti, 2022
