Today’s Gospel

You are the salt of the earth. But if salt has lost its saltinees, how can it be made salty again? It has become useless. It can only be thrown away and people will trample on it.

You are the light of the world. A city built on a mountain cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and covers it; instead it is put on a lamp stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before others, so that they may see the good you do and praise your Father in heaven.

Today’s Reflection:

Defective products, or those that do not serve their purpose, carry additional burdens to their sellers and buyers. But these burdens are not the fault of these inanimate objects, since there is nothing they can do if they are made in such a manner. But the same is not true for every person who is created by God for a certain good purpose, and who also is provided with every grace and potential to transcend their limitations. We can fool ourselves and other people with alibis on why and how we cannot perform the way God created us to be, but not Him who entirely and perfectly knew us before we even existed. Let us then strive to serve as salts and lights as how God expected us to be, and implore His mercy whenever we fail to do so. /Vulnerasti, 2023
