Today’s Gospel

When Jesus had come in sight of the city, he wept over it, and said, “If only today you knew the ways of peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. Yet days will come upon you, when your enemies will surround you with barricades, and shut you in, and press on you from every side. And they will dash you to the ground and your children with you, and not leave stone upon stone within you, for you did not recognize the time and the visitation of your God.”

Today’s Reflection:

Jerusalem is the city of peace. But when Jesus came closer to this city, he wept because His people were not able to see the peace in it, they failed to recognize the time when God sent them the one who will save them. Or, they had the resistance to accept His message of salvation. God had visited His people through Jesus; the people were cold to offer Him hospitality. Until now, we are still prisoners of injustices because we have resistance to welcome with warmth embrace the King of Peace. This is manifested in the way people of today treat the environment, the poor in the society, and even our own lives—which is made by God His temple. /Vulnerasti, 2022
