Today’s Gospel

I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before people, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But the one who denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. There will be pardon for the one who criticizes the Son of Man, but there will be no pardon for the one who slanders the Holy Spirit. When you are brought before the synagogues, and before governors and rulers, don’t worry about how you will defend yourself, or what to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you have to say.”

Today’s Reflection:

When one chooses to be identified with the Lord, he puts his or her allegiance in him alone, no more, no less. This means that a disciple is more than willing to embrace the life of Jesus even if it entails dying for the sake of an everlasting reward. Moreover, to identify one’s self with Jesus includes acceptance of the Spirit’s testimony about him. It simply invites us to embrace the Gospel which gives us reasons to hope for an everlasting reward. In other words, Jesus himself is the reward of a disciple who, despite all the troubles and anxieties experienced in the present world, fearlessly fights for one’s faith in him. There is no reason for us, Christians, to be afraid because the Holy Spirit will defend us in our struggle and attempt to be true followers of Jesus. /Vulnerasti, 2022
