Today’s Gospel

Jesus looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury of the temple. He also saw a poor widow, who dropped in two small coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them. For all of them gave an offering from their plenty; but she, out of her poverty, gave all she had to live on.”

Today’s Reflection:

In today’s gospel, Jesus reminds us that the poor widow’s offering is pleasing to God because the small amount of money she gave is of such high value for it was offered with great love. Mother Teresa of Calcutta once remarked, “It is not what and how much we give but how much love goes with the giving.” The eyes of the world only look at the figure or the shape or the weight of the gift; God however sees the goodness and intention of the heart of the giver. / Vulnerasti, 2023
