Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Mt 7: 1-5

Today’s Gospel

Do not judge; and you will not be judged. In the same way you judge others, you will be judged; and the measure you use for others will be used for you. Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, and not see the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Come, let me take the speck from your eye,’ as long as that plank is in your own? Hypocrite, remove the plank out of your own eye; then, you will see clearly, to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Today’s Reflection:

It is very easy to notice a particular sin in others if one is very familiar with such sin. It is also difficult to recognize particular goodness in others if one is unable to experience such goodness in oneself or from others. That is why it is important to examine oneself first if one easily notices the mistakes of others or their lack of goodness. It is because there might be situations wherein what we see as faults or lacking in others could be mere reflections of what we unconsciously see in ourselves. Unless one is motivated by a genuine concern for others, a person should not involve oneself in fraternal correction, especially if one’s prevailing motivation is to cause harm, humiliation, or retaliation. /Vulnerasti, 2023
