Today’s Gospel

As Jesus was speaking, a woman spoke from the crowd and said to him, “Blessed is the one who gave you birth and nursed you!” Jesus replied, “Truly blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it as well.”

Today’s Reflection:

There is only one criterion for true blessedness – being attentive to God’s word. This criterion is more important than any earthly relationships we have, more important even than biological relationships. A person who is attentive to God’s word is considered a faithful servant of God and is in communion with Him because he or she has proven himself or herself worthy through ethical and religious conduct. It indicates that the person relies on God alone, practices justice, shows loyalty and love, and orders his or her daily life according to the divinely ordained commandment of love. Simply put, the person puts into practice what he or she reads from the Scriptures. Saint Augustine would say, in this regard: “Love, and do what you will!” for one cannot go wrong if the love of God inspires and motivates him or her. /Vulnerasti, 2022
