Today’s Gospel

And he added, “The Son of Man must suffer many things. He will be rejected by the elders and chief priests and teachers of the law, and be put to death. Then after three days he will be raised to life.”

Jesus also said to all the people, “If you wish to be a follower of mine, deny yourself and take up your cross each day, and follow me! For if you choose to save your life, you will lose it; but if you lose your life for my sake, you will save it. What does it profit you to gain the whole world, if you destroy or damage yourself?

Today’s Reflection:

Each of us bears our crosses and life’s burdens daily, especially with our family, work, and community. These crosses may be physical, emotional, mental, economic, or spiritual in nature. However, as we begin our Lenten journey, may we respond to the invitation of our Lord Jesus Christ to follow Him by first denying one’s self and then taking up one’s cross as a sign of our
discipleship with Him. With fervent hope in the Lord in this time of penance, may we recognize our daily crosses and life’s burdens and bear them with prayer, fasting, and active works of charity so that we will experience the comfort of God’s love. /Vulnerasti, 2023
