Today’s Gospel

King Herod heard of all this, and did not know what to think, for people said, “This is John, raised from the dead.” Others believed that Elijah, or one of the ancient prophets, had come back to life. As for Herod, he said, “I had John beheaded. Who is this man, about whom I hear such wonders?” And he was anxious to see him.

Today’s Reflection:

John the Baptist paved the way for the Messiah. He is the Herald of Christ. He effectively announced his coming by preparing the people to receive the Truth. Christ and John are so closely related that people mistakenly thought that John is Christ and others think that John lives in the person of Jesus. Christ is more than all of their assumptions because He is the incarnated Son of God. Christ is not just a communicator of the Truth; rather, He is Truth himself. May we always cling to the Truth of God and not the truths that the world offers. John gave testimony to Christ. May we, like him, also give witness to Christ in everything we do. /Vulnerasti, 2023.
