Today’s Gospel
As Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “The teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the Son of David. How can that be? For David, himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, declared: The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet!’ If David, himself, calls him Lord, in what way can he be his Son?” Many people came to Jesus, and listened to him gladly.
Today’s Reflection
In the First Reading, Paul warned Timothy that all who want to serve God will be persecuted. He also encourages us that God rescues his faithful servants in time of great trials. We need to listen carefully to Jesus and follow the path he offers. Though we are often perplexed by what he taught and did, Jesus wants us to listen with delight and to follow him with passion. This involves us entering into the very mystery of God which allows us to humbly accept everything he has made known. Jesus continues to reveal who God really is. So, let us nourish ourselves daily with his Word that we may fully come to know God.
