BMSN gears up for Fiesta Señor 2019

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu (BMSN) is gearing up for the 454th Fiesta Señor celebration in honor of the Holy Child, Señor Santo Niño de Cebu, through a strong collaboration with the Police Regional Office VII (PRO7) and the Cebu City government.

The Fiesta Señor celebration is one of the grandest and most awaited events in Cebu which gathers thousands of devotees to the Holy Child.

In collaboration with the PRO-7, the Basilica is ready for a large number of people during the said event.

PRO-7 Director Debold Sinas said that the PRO-7 is willing to give full assistance and resources to secure the safety and security of the devotees.

Different activities during the week-long fiesta celebration include the Fluvial Procession, Solemn Foot Procession, Traslacion, Walk with Jesus, and Walk with Mary.

Augustinian Friars are assigned to different clusters/committees namely: Liturgy, Cebu City processions, Traslacion, Security, Peace and Order, Administration in order to ensure the smooth flow of activities during the celebration.

 

Hospitals and Jail Visit

One of the highlights during the festivity is the visit of the Holy Child to four hospitals in Cebu City as well as the Cebu City Jail.

The image of Señor Santo Niño will take its first visit at the Cebu City Medical Center which will happen tomorrow, January 4, 2019.

On January 5, 2019, the image will visit at the Vicente Sotto Medical Center, Cebu Doctors University-Hospital on January 6, Chong Hua Hospital on January 7 and Cebu City Jail on January 8.

These are part of the preliminary activities of the Basilica to ensure that those people who are sick and in prison will have the chance to join the festivity and show their devotion to the Holy Child.

 

Peace and Order

According to Rev. Fr. Aladdin P. Luzon, OSA, the chairman of the Cluster on Safety, Security, Peace and Order of BMSN, the PRO-7 is implementing strong crowd control for the upcoming event.

The Basilica with the help of the Cebu City government through councilor Dave Tumulak is already geared up for the big event where Cebu City volunteers are being deployed to take part in the said event.

Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Group also ensure its full assistance for the Fluvial Procession and Traslacion.

Due to the fast approaching fiesta celebration, a press conference will be done at the Basilica on January 8, 2019 with all the participating executive committees for the final and general orientation of the different events of this year’s Fiesta Señor.

 

BMSN is now on its full preparation for the upcoming Fiesta Señor which will start with the Walk with Jesus on January 10, 2019, Opening Salvo.
