In commemoration of their 28th anniversary, the employees of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Visayas Regional Office (BSPVRO) handed out relief packages at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu Pilgrim Center on July 29, 2021.

The BSPVRO outreach committee partnered with the Santo Niño Augustinian Foundation (SNAF) in identifying the recipients of the program and organizing the activity while adhering to safety protocols imposed by the government.

An estimated 150 families have received the relief goods.

The beneficiaries were members of the Basilica United Vendors and Photographers Association (BUVPA) and apostolate projects of SNAF.

As part of BSPVRO’s month-long annual celebration, the staff pooled out funds to arrange outreach programs, aiming to aid people inside BSPVRO and its immediate vicinities, including the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu.

They established their own mobile community pantry called “Bangko Sentral Pagtabang (BSPagtabang)” inspired by the emerging community pantries all over the country in the midst of the pandemic.

“Happy gyud kaayo, ma’am, labi na gyud sa among halin karon nga hinay gyud, lahi gyud sa wala pa ang pandemya (I am very happy, ma’am, specially that our sales nowadays are low, very different from before the pandemic),” said Mrs. Ruby Meonis, one of the recipients and the secretary of BUVPA, as she expressed her gratitude for the assistance she received.

For outreach activities and communitarian efforts, the SNAF, under the guidance of Fr. Aladdin Luzon and Fr. Ion Miranda, is open for partnerships. /Devey Gaviola with Rhina Mae Tabada, CNU Communication Interns
