BMSN Media Centre welcomes more student volunteers

The Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu (BMSN) Media Centre opens its doors again for another batch of student volunteers for the coverage of Fiesta Señor 2019.

This year’s team welcomes Cebu Normal University’s (CNU) communication and journalism students in addition to their team.

Last Fiesta Señor was the first time the BMSN Media Centre accommodated 21 student volunteers from different schools, University of San Jose – Recoletos and University of San Carlos.

The coverage for the festivities is spearheaded by the Basilica’s Media Centre alongside the organization PITIK, a group of volunteers who covers the activities of the Basilica.

Since Fiesta Señor gets bigger every year, it is harder to cover the whole event without extra hands.

For next year, the Media Centre invited more student volunteers including the students from CNU.

They invited communication and journalism students to volunteer since the experience is a great avenue to enhance their skills on field. It is also a great exposure for these students to know the nature of their chosen program.

Last November 18, 2018, the Media Centre started their orientation for the second leg of student volunteers for the Fiesta Señor coverage. Students from University of San Carlos, Cebu Normal University, and Interns from University of San Jose – Recoletos, participated in a whole day workshop for the upcoming coverage of Fiesta Señor celebration.

However, volunteering for the coverage of Fiesta Señor does not really require to be a student of communication and journalism, but on top of it is the willingness and passion of a student to cover the historical event. /Michee Dionne Balite – USJ-R Communication Intern
