SALAMAT NIÑO: Basilica resumes public masses

Masses resume

“Daghang salamat. Pit Senyor!”

These were the words of the Basilica’s Prior and Rector, Rev. Fr. Pacifico C. Nohara Jr., OSA on the first day of the public masses celebrated at the Sto. Niño Pilgrim Center after almost five months.

“Mapasalamaton ako ni Señor Santo Niño nga karong adlawa aduna na’y misa sa publiko dinhi sa Basilica.” He said.

(I am grateful to Señor Santo Niño that we already have public masses in the Basilica today.)

Despite the downgrade of the city’s quarantine status to GCQ last August 1, the Basilica did not push through with having masses to the public.

This was due to the city’s Executive Order which limits the attendees to a maximum of ten only.

Nevertheless, the Basilica reopened its doors to the public for veneration and lighting of candles for prayers and petitions.

The Augustinian friars also reminded the churchgoers to strictly follow the health protocols and safety measures being implemented.

Despite the resumption of public masses, the Basilica continues to reach out to those who are unable to visit the church through its liturgical activities online.

“Sa kanunay kaming mga kapariang Agustino padayon sa pag-ampo uban kaninyo nga dunggon ang inyong mga intentions (At all times, we, the Augustinian friars, continue to pray with you that your intentions be heard),” said Fr. Nohara.

The Basilica is open to public from Monday to Sunday at 6:00AM to 7:00PM.

Confessions are still suspended while the adoration chapel remains closed. ? Glipmses
