Willingness to serve

Children can resemble the Holy Child because they embody the innocence and purity of Sto. Niño. The Holy Child will protect us from all the sorrows that will hurt us as we face challenges in life. Faith has no limitations. Witness God’s deliverance, protection, salvation, healing, and fidelity in adversities by moving forward in faith and victory in Christ.

Amidst drizzle is a light rain falling in fine drops around the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu. We came across a young student who excels in academics and is a devotee of the Holy Child. She is praying that she can still achieve more to make her parents and herself proud.

Daniella Liz N. Maurecio, a grade eight student from Minglanilla, Cebu, is a devoted follower and a very appreciative pupil of the Balaang Bata. She regularly visits the church and prays for guidance and increased knowledge so she can overcome the barriers that will strive to prevent her from achieving all of her goals.

She wants to take a complete face-to-face lesson while simultaneously hoping and praying that we will all be free from the pandemic. She has more goals in mind, and as a leader among her classmates, she may encourage many of them to recognize their abilities and strive for more tremendous success in their personal and academic lives.

“Akong gina-pray g’yud ni Sñr. Sto. Niño na pirmi ko i-guide Niya og akoa pu’ng mga classmates as we take our exams and give us some satisfying scores to make ourselves proud and our parents pud.”

Being a devoted follower of Sto. Niño, even in the face of adversity, Sñr. Sto. Niño gives her the confidence and strength to know that her family will always have excellent health and success.

“I’m a student-leader in our school, and as class president, I want to encourage my classmates and schoolmates na we need to stand and help each other up as we chase our dreams through praying to Sñr. Sto. Niño. ”

“Karon, mapasalamatun kaayo ko kay sa sige nako og pray ni Sto. Niño iya gyud i-hear out pirmi ako ang mga pag-ampo ngadto ka Niya na successful og nindot akoang pag eskwela ug hangtud karon nag-ampo gihapon ko na makahuman ko sa ako ang pag eskwela og hopefully na iya gihapon kong tagaan og knowledge og ma-honor gihapon ko.”

Lost in the cacophony of the chaos, one can understand the eternal blessings and know that no sacrifice is too great, no price too heavy, and no struggle is too difficult in order to receive those blessings. We continue to pray, learn, and grow until the time comes when we will rise together to the ultimate heights, though the appearance of the church may change but never our devotion. /Zenn Dee Tejero, BMSN Media Centre student volunteer
