Our Greatest Fears

Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Mk 10:28-31 “The Rich Man

Today’s Gospel

Peter began to say to Jesus,
‘We have given up everything and followed you.”
Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you,
there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands
for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:
houses and brothers and sisters
and mothers and children and lands,
with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first.”

Today’s Reflection

Sometimes, letting go becomes one of our greatest fears. Not because we are too selfish but these things that we are about to let go plays a vital role in our lives. The things and people that we value were silently marking their spaces in our lives before leaving, and that is the most painful part of every letting go. Realizing that those things, once they already leave us would not be the same even if they come again. However, today’s Gospel would always remind us to be steadfast in doing and knowing Christ’s role in every work that we have. As we walk with Him in this journey called life, we will just realize that His presence is more than enough for us to handle. We are all human, we are being broken every time we encounter innumerable goodbyes, and we all need God for He abandons no one in this journey of ours.
