Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Mk 10:17-27 “The Rich Man“
March 4, 2019 | Monday
Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,
“How hard it is for those who have wealth
to enter the Kingdom of God!”
The disciples were amazed at his words.
So Jesus again said to them in reply,
“Children, how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.”
They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves,
“Then who can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said,
“For men it is impossible, but not for God.
All things are possible for God.”
Today’s Reflection
“What good must I do?” it is the entire point of the passage and perhaps, the frequently asked questions by some of us. We can make good things happen by turning our whole heart and mind to the one who is eternally good, namely, Jesus Christ. In order for us to accomplish good deeds we must first turn towards our God who is all good. We can clearly see in the Gospel today that there was a man who asked Jesus for him to be able to inherit the eternal life. Like the man in the Gospel, we are always invited to come to Jesus, the ever-living epitome of God’s goodness. Being good in this cruel world of ours is not easy, it takes a lot and it means a lot. However, with the presence of Him, we can be good and propagate goodness to other people especially to our lesser brothers and sisters who happen to have a lesser amount of than us. By seeking Jesus, we found goodness, by doing goodness to others we create an atmosphere of love and by creating the atmosphere of love we find love. For in giving the love that world needs, we get love that the Lord gives.
