Witnessed the Transfiguration of the Lord

Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Lk 9:28B-36 “The Transfiguration of Jesus
March 17, 2019 | Sunday

Today’s Gospel

Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

Today’s Reflection

In today’s reading, Peter, James and John witnessed the transfiguration of the Lord that gave them a glimpse of the eternal life. In this 2nd Sunday of Lent, we reminded to become hopeful in every trial that we were going through for there are other things that are being prepared if we keep steadfast in our faith. In our life, sometimes we are like Peter when he said “Master, how good it is for us to be here!” We just want to be on the state wherein all the things are alight and anew; taking away from us all the worries and put on the security of our own like the tents. But the Lord said to them “Listen to him” because after the transfiguration, they will still need to continue their journey, go back to the reality facing all darkness within and only through listening to Jesus can have their way toward the right path and obtains eternal life. In every suffering that we face, every failure that we make, and in every trial we would take that make our life so dark, Jesus will be our light and salvation.
