Today’s Gospel

And Jesus added this comparison, “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as their buds sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly, I tell you, this generation will not pass away, until all this has happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Today’s Reflection:

“Heaven and Earth will pass away but my words will not pass away”. We may ask: what would be the assurance that the Lord’s words will not pass away? In the midst of the many terrible things happening in the world: are love, goodness and peace still in the hearts people? How can the gospel continue to touch people who are suffering?

There are those who say that it is difficult to talk about the Lord and His message to people whose stomachs are empty, or to people who have lost their homes and their loved ones. They simply would not listen. That may be true to those who have lost their faith and hope already. But to those who have strong faith, even with unfortunate things happening; they remain to be on the side of the Lord. They continue to rely on His comforting presence. We should be among those people who never give up on our faith. The words of Jesus, His gospel of love, would continue to be, would never pass away, because there are still people who live them out in the midst of tribulations and tragedies in life. /Vulnerasti, 2022
