Today’s Gospel

Jesus told them a parable, to show them that they should pray continually, and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain town there was a judge, who neither feared God nor people. In the same town there was a widow, who kept coming to him, saying, ‘Defend my rights against my adversary!’ For a time he refused, but finally he thought, ‘Even though I neither fear God nor care about people, this widow bothers me so much, I will see that she gets justice; then she will stop coming and wearing me out.” And Jesus said, “Listen to what the evil judge says. Will God not do justice for his chosen ones, who cry to him day and night, even if he delays in answering them? I tell you, he will speedily do them justice. But, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

Today’s Reflection:

A story was told in a convent of sisters that the words “Handle with a Prayer” were put beside the doorknob on the entrance door. One could not but smile and probably reflect upon opening the door. It was very symbolic and meaningful that it can be applied to anything in life.

Do we handle anything in our life with a Prayer? If we want a door to be opened for us in life; we have to handle it with a prayer. If we want the door of forgiveness and reconciliation to be opened to us; then we handle it with a prayer. If we want the door to be opened for our family to grow more in love and understanding; we handle it with a prayer. If we want the door of success and happiness to be opened; then we handle it with a prayer. Whatever door we want to open in our spiritual life; we handle it with a prayer. This is what we learned from the persistent widow in the gospel. Let us handle life with a prayer. /Vulnerasti, 2022
