Today’s Gospel

From the Father, I will send you the Spirit of truth. When this Helper has come from the Father, he will be my witness, and you, too, will be my witnesses, for you have been with me from the beginning.

I tell you all this to keep you from stumbling and falling away. They will put you out of the synagogue. Still more, the hour is coming, when anyone who kills you will claim to be serving God; they will do this, because they have not known the Father or me. I tell you all these things now so that, when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them.

Today’s Reflection:

Jesus assures His disciples that He will send a Paraclete or in more common terms, an advocate, a comforter or a counsellor to be with them when He will be away. He calls this Paraclete as the “Spirit of Truth”. However, this designated Spirit of Truth does not only inform the mind with facts or gives ready answers, but he also gives guidance in our decisions and actions. The Holy Spirit may not provide us with easy answers to our questions but let us be assured that he will guide us through difficult times in our lives. We may enter through dark tunnels in our lives and maybe in that tunnel, we cannot find the switch to light our way. Nevertheless, let us be reminded that the Holy Spirit provides us with a light at the end of the tunnel. /Vulnerasti, 2022
