Today’s Gospel

When you pray, do not use a lot of words, as the pagans do; for they believe that, the more they say, the more chance they have of being heard. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need, even before you ask him.

This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, holy be your name, your kingdom, come, your will, be done on earth, as in heaven. Give us today, our daily bread.

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive those who are in debt to us.

Do not bring us to the test, but deliver us from the evil one.

If you forgive others their wrongdoings, your Father in heaven will also forgive yours. If you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive you.

Today’s Reflection:

Jesus, the Son of God, the one who resides closest to the Father, tells us today of how we should relate with God. By teaching us how to pray, Jesus teaches us the pattern of communication and the proper language on how we can relate better and get closer to God. However, the kind of communication He teaches us is not a magical formula that can compel or change the ways of God. There is no such thing. It is not God who must change in prayer, but us. Jesus teaches us how to relate with God so that when we constantly pray and communicate with Him, we can get to grow more in the knowledge of what God wants from us and how we can grow more as His children. /Vulnerasti, 2023
