Today’s Gospel

And Jesus continued, “What is the kingdom of  God like? What shall I compare it to? Imagine a person who has taken a mustard seed, and planted it in his garden. The seed has grown, and become like a small tree, so that the birds of the air shelter in its branches.”

And Jesus said again, “What is the kingdom of God like? Imagine a woman who has taken yeast, and hidden it in three measures of flour, until it is all leavened.”

Today’s Reflection:

In today’s gospel, Jesus described the Kingdom of God. He compared God’s Kingdom to a mustard seed that grew into a tree and yeast that permeated the bread. Jesus tells us that the Kingdom of God begins small like a seed but grows and expands. It transforms into a tree large enough to offer shelter to birds. Such is the Kingdom of God, it gives a place for all who seek refuge. The Kingdom of God is like yeast. As yeast permeates the bread, God’s Kingdom will grow and be present everywhere. These give hope to all who follow the Lord. The time will come when all seek refuge from the shades of the Kingdom. Let us aim for that Kingdom. Let us hope that the Kingdom’s branches reach us and be our refuge. We pray that the desire for that Kingdom permeates our hearts.  / Vulnerasti, 2023
