Today’s Gospel

Do not think that I have come to annul the Law and the Prophets I have not come to annul them but to fulfill them. I tell you this: as long as heaven and earth last, not the smallest letter or dot in the law will change until all is fulfilled.

So then, whoever breaks the least important of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be the least in the kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, whoever obeys them, and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the kingdom of heaven.

Today’s Reflection:

Compendiums of laws, may it be in the ecclesiastical or within the civil sphere, are usually immense forests that may lead voyagers to different destinations and purposes. Unconsciously, so many “law experts” lost their way in these immense forests due to the compass or motivations that they are using. They are lost because they are led, or they are leading others, not to the proper trail of the forest but to their distorted ends. But today, the Gospel clarifies that in order for us not to go wrong in following the track of the Law and the prophets, the most convenient way is to always check how and where Christ is leading us. So, when we feel lost or are unsure of making certain decisions, ask first where Christ might point us to go at the crossroad we’re encountering. /Vulnerasti, 2023
