Today’s Reflection
Gospel: Lk 11: 1-4
October 11, 2023 | Wednesday
One day, Jesus was praying in a certain place; and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
And Jesus said to them, “When you pray, say this: Father, may your name be held holy, may your kingdom come; give us, each day, the kind of bread we need, and forgive us our sins; for we also forgive all who do us wrong; and do not bring us to the test.”
Today’s Reflection:
In many instances in the Gospels, we hear Jesus praying. The Lord prayed when John baptized Him. He withdrew and prayed after He cleansed a leper. Jesus, from time to time, went to the hills and prayed until night came. Jesus prays in every important event in His life and ministry. In today’s gospel, the disciples asked the Lord to teach them how to pray. He taught them what would be known as the Lord’s Prayer.
The Gospel of Luke presented a concise version of the prayer that we commonly know. This prayer lead us to reflect on our relationship with God. As we pray
the Lord’s Prayer, the Lord invites us to reflect on these questions. Is God our Abba? Do we trust Him and hold His name holy? Is His will our priority? Is He still our God? /Vulnerasti, 2023.
