Today’s Gospel

As Jesus walked by the Lake of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. He said to them, “Come, follow me; and I  will make you fish for people.”

At once they left their nets and followed him. He went on from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John, in a boat with their father Zebedee, mending
their nets. Jesus called them.

At once, they left the boat, and their father, and followed him.

Today’s Reflection:

In today’s reading, we meditate on how the disciples responded to Jesus’ call! The evangelist Matthew noted that they left their nets, their boat, and even their father “at once.” Without any hesitations whatsoever or without any second thought, they said “yes.” Are they the more qualified individuals among their kinsmen? Certainly not! Neither are they the most perfect people
in their place. They only have such perfect docility to the call of The Lord and that makes them the perfect cooperators of grace. We also share the same calling for we only serve the same Lord and God. On this feast of St. Andrew, may we receive the same fervor and generosity to give our humble self-offering to God so that by the offering of our bodies, we become a living sacrifice acceptable to the Father for His greater purpose / Vulnerasti, 2023
